Edward Norton films

This one came in response to rewatching a favorite of mine, American History X, with a friend. I began recounting about how Edward Norton was my first "favorite actor," adding however that he had fallen in my books - quite sharply in fact at some undetermined point in time. "Undetermined" isn't a word I like, so I went back and looked at all his work and turned it into an infographic (because that's what I do).

I wanted to make a graph that emphasized my ratings and how they've dropped, however I began to realize I had only seen just over half of his movies so I decided that wasn't really the route to go. However, it is worth noting that the reason I saw so few of his projects between 2002's 25th Hour and 2012's Moonrise Kingdom is because of lack of interest in what looked to me to be generic-looking disappointments. But for my own ratings, 25th Hour most definitely was the turning point. Norton was flawless in my opinion in all of his first 8 movies I saw. But there's something qualitatively different about him doing movies like The Italian Job, Kingdom of Heaven, Pride and Glory, Stone, and The Bourne Legacy.

The 3 major reviewers (IMDb, MC, and RT) seem to view his work as quite consistent over time. When I added the trend line for that black average line, it was nearly perfectly horizontal. However, I think the high ratings of his two Wes Anderson films greatly help keep his average high and I think that's partially misleading because I'm pretty sure people's high ratings of Moonrise Kingdom and The Grand Budapest Hotel had little to do with Norton's presence or performance.
